Description
Walkabout Creek is near McKinlay, NT and home to the famed Walkabout Creek Hotel. We stopped here for a picnic lunch and to muse over the fact that aboriginals have walked this same creek for thousands of years. Even dry creeks will eventually lead to waterholes. The Australian highway network of today are built on the same tracks that aboriginal guides showed the early explorers. Dry rivers and creeks were the original walkabout highways for the indigenous people of Australia.
Meaning for creek is dharran; creek bend is balganbaa
